Sample 2020 Spring Archives Digitization Intern Job Description
2020 Spring Archives Digitization Intern
The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from students who are interested in an unpaid internship within our Archives Department.
If you love history and want to learn what goes into sharing historic documents online, this internship may be for you. As part of the digitization process, the intern will scan original documents to preservation standards, edit the scans in Photoshop, and create catalog records for each item scanned in the collections database Mimsy. The collections selected for digitization will take into account the intern's personal interests. Other projects may be added throughout the semester, including creating catalog records for existing scans or creating EAD finding aids in ArchivesSpace. The desired intern will have a flexible schedule and the ability to work a minimum of 150 hours for this internship.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with strong communication skills, and be a graduate or undergraduate student majoring in library science, history, American studies, or a similar field.
