Fall 2018 Public Programs Intern

The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from students who are interested in a paid internship within our Education and Visitor Experience Division.

The intern will assist MHS's public programs coordinator with programming-related tasks including general program staffing, program wayfinding, and managing program-specific social media applications at the Missouri History Museum. The intern will work with the public programs coordinator, Education and Visitor Experience staff, the MHS production crew, the general public, and occasionally with contracted speakers and collaborating organizations.

The intern's responsibilities will include:

• General program staffing (such as putting out program signs, event wayfinding, and working with the production crew)
• Distributing and collecting audience surveys at programs
• Managing and maintaining the Education and Visitor Experience meetup.com group
• Other duties as assigned

Programs and events take place throughout the morning, afternoon, and evening, so the desired candidate should have a flexible schedule and the ability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week. The final schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate or undergraduate student majoring in library science, history, American studies, English, or similar field of study and have a GPA of 2.7 or above.
