The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from college students who are interested in fundraising and seek an unpaid academic internship within the Development Department for the Spring 2022 semester. This internship position reports to the Membership Coordinator.


The Development Intern will assist in the implementation of the annual fund development plan, which includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition of membership. The intern will gain an understanding of CRM software and fundraising best practices, strengthen interpersonal communication skills with colleagues and volunteers in an office setting, and receive on-the-job training and experience in the development/fundraising field.


Schedule:

A minimum of 10 hours per week for 12 to 15 weeks is desired, with a flexible schedule between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. The final schedule will be determined with the supervisor. This is an onsite position at the Missouri History Museum.


The intern's responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

· Assisting with data entry

· Preparing membership packets and other mailings

· Managing the Time Travelers program and website

· Assisting Prospect Managers with donor research

· Processing and fulfilling complimentary membership requests

· Working with Development staff on member events and programs


Intern Qualifications:

• College sophomore or above in good academic standing

• Interest in fundraising

• Solid written and oral communication skills

• Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, members, and donors

• Strong computer skills

• Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information


Learning Objectives:

· Gain an understanding of CRM software and fundraising best practices

· Strengthen interpersonal communication skills with colleagues and volunteers in an office setting

· Gain on-the-job training and experience in the development/fundraising field
