The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from candidates who are interested in digital communications and seek a paid internship within the Marketing and Communications Department for the Spring 2022 semester. This internship position reports to the Digital Communications Manager and works closely with the Digital Communications Coordinator.


The Digital Content Creator intern will assist the Missouri Historical Society in broadening its social media approach to include Instagram Reels and/or TikTok by researching best practices and creating and editing short videos about the Missouri History Museum's special exhibit, St. Louis Sound, with the guidance of the Marketing and Communications team.


Schedule:

The intern will work 15 hours per week for approximately 15 weeks. The schedule is flexible dependent upon the intern's schedule, and the final schedule will be determined with the supervisor.


This internship requires some onsite time for filming in the exhibit gallery, but there is an option to work remotely for part of the internship.


The intern's responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

· Researching effective use of Instagram Reels and/or TikTok videos by comparable institutions

· Providing recommendations for MHS's social media strategy regarding Instagram Reels and/or TikTok

· Creating 3 to 10 short videos about the Missouri History Museum's St. Louis Sound exhibit for use on Instagram Reels and/or TikTok, including planning, filming, and editing content

· Engaging with MHS's audience on social media about posted videos, following brand standards

· Evaluating video success based on platform analytics such as impressions and engagements



Intern Qualifications:

· Film, video production, communications, or related area of study is preferred

· Strong storytelling skills

· Experience in video creation and editing

· Interest in digital communications and social media

· Ability to identify target audiences, work with a team to create strategy, think creatively, and communicate concepts in a fun way


Learning Objectives:

· Strengthen video content creation skills

· Gain an understanding of how to plan and execute a tailored social media campaign

· Gain experience in the field of nonprofit digital communications
