Summer 2020 Development Internship

The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from students who are interested in an unpaid internship within our Development Department.

 

The Development intern will assist in the implementation of the annual fund development plan, which includes the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition of membership. A minimum of 10 hours per week for 12 to 15 weeks is desired, with a flexible schedule between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. The final schedule will be determined with the supervisor.

 

The intern's responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Assisting in data entry
  • Assisting with the preparation of membership packets and other mailings
  • Assisting with management of the Time Travelers program
  • Promoting membership through onsite sales
  • Processing and fulfilling complimentary membership requests
  • Assisting with membership and development event coordination and execution
  • Assisting development staff with calling members
  • Promoting and nurturing productive working relationships
  • Assisting with member events and programs

 

Qualifications:

  • College sophomore or above in good academic standing
  • Interest in fundraising and history
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills in interacting with staff, members, and donors
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

 

Objectives:

  • Intern will gain an understanding of CRM software and fundraising best practices
  • Intern will strengthen interpersonal communication skills with colleagues and volunteers in an office setting 
  • Intern will gain on-the-job training and experience in the Development/Fundraising field
