Summer 2020 Evaluation Internship

The Missouri Historical Society is accepting applications from students who are interested in an unpaid internship for course credit in the Evaluation Department within our Strategic Initiatives Division. This part-time intern will participate in ongoing institutional efforts to better understand the Missouri Historical Society's visitors and their experience. A minimum of 10 hours per week for 12 to 15 weeks is desired, with a flexible schedule between 9am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend hours may occasionally be required for data collection.

The intern's responsibilities may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Collecting quantitative and qualitative data from visitors at the Missouri History Museum, the Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, or both
  • Developing and implementing small-scale evaluations as projects arise
  • Entering, cleaning, and analyzing data
  • Writing evaluation reports
  • Conducting literature reviews and building the institution's evaluation library

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative/qualitative skills
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public and other staff in a professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with a variety of digital devices/platforms
  • Experience in museum evaluation, market research, visitor studies, or audience research is preferred
  • Familiarity with SPSS or other statistical software is preferred
